"Request approved!" the Clerk chirped, and the table sat up, because nobody had made a request. "You may look at one card in anyone's hand."
The player concerned had meant to ask about snacks. They looked at their options and chose the player who had been smug since eight o'clock. The smug player offered up a card with the face of somebody being searched at an airport.
"This is against policy," the Clerk muttered, brightly. "But go ahead."
Forms were mentioned. A pen was requested, and then, for some reason, a second pen.
It turned out to be the one card everyone had been hunting for. The Clerk logged it as an incident, in triplicate, and wished everybody a nice evening, as though nothing had happened.
