"Ooh ooh ooh!" The Enthusiast could hardly get the words out. "Pick anyone at the table. They sing their next move!"
The player holding the card looked around. Their oldest friend. Their sister. Their boss, who had been invited by mistake.
"Pick someone good!" squealed the Enthusiast.
The table leaned in. The boss looked like a person who had never sung in front of anybody in their life.
They picked the boss. The boss, to everybody's surprise, stood up, cleared their throat, and sang "I play the four of hearts" to a tune everyone knew, with real feeling. The table cheered. The Enthusiast had to be asked to stop clapping.
It turned out the boss had been waiting years for an excuse.
